Details

Promised Land Potluck is an interactive “pick a side” game with a strategic twist.

Overview:
Promised Land Potluck is an interactive “pick a side” game where students build their own menu using foods found in the Bible. Some are delicious, and some… not so much. Each round forces students to choose between two options by physically moving to a side of the room. Perfect for Thanksgiving, but lightly themed so it’s flexible enough for use at any time of year.

There are two game modes:

Full Game Mode (Recommended)
Students move to the side that sounds more appetizing each round, but they’re also building their own personalized menu as they go. Using the provided menu sheet, students must choose a total of six items throughout the game to fill each course: Hors d’oeuvre, Appetizer, Main Course, Side 1, Side 2, and Dessert. Once an item is written down, it’s locked in, so students need to think strategically before they commit!

Quick & Easy Mode
Simply play as a “pick a side” game. Each round, students move to the option they would rather eat. No menu, no tracking, just quick decisions and gut reactions.

Setup (Only for the Full Game Mode)
• Print the provided menu file (There are 2 menus per page)
• Cut the pages so each student receives one menu
• Give each student a pen or pencil

How to Play:
1. Present the Choices. Each round, display or announce two food options from the Bible.
2. Pick a Side. Students move to the side of the room representing the food they would rather eat.
3. Choose Carefully. After moving, students choose an item to add to their personal menu.
4. Record Their Picks. If they choose to keep an item, they write it down on their menu.

Rules:
• There are 12 rounds total (24 food items)
• Students may only select six total items for their menu
• Once an item is written down, it cannot be erased or changed
• Students cannot go back and select items from previous rounds. If the round has passed, so has their opportunity to add that item to their menu.

Goal:
Build the best possible six-item menu by the end of the game. The challenge is balancing:
• Picking strong options early vs. saving spots for something better later
• Avoiding getting stuck with terrible foods if you wait too long

About this Product
Let students defend their picks, debate with each other, or roast the other side. The more you lean into their reactions, the more energy you create!
