Details
Holy Hyperboles is a simple crowd game that challenges players to determine which creative comparisons came from the Bible and which ones are not. In each round, two quotes appear on screen: one from Scripture and one from literature, poetry, philosophy, or ancient wisdom traditions. Some are beautiful, some are bizarre, and some are surprisingly hard to tell apart. It works well as a discussion starter, a teaching illustration, or just a fun way to help students notice how vivid, poetic, and memorable biblical language can be.
You can use this game in several ways:
• All-Play Movement Game: Have the audience move to the side of the room that matches their guess.
• Up-Front: Bring some contestants up front and have them compete head-to-head.
• Elimination Mode: Like the all-play movement version, but those who get an answer wrong have to sit down. Can they survive all 12 rounds? (It might be good to do a practice round or two.)
