It looks like nonsense. Sound it out, and it's a phrase your students know. First to hear it wins!

Details

What if I told you ""Maw Re Oak Heart"" is something your students play every week? Ear Say is a fast-paced screen game where nonsense words hide familiar phrases, but only if you say them out loud. On the screen it looks like someone fell asleep on a keyboard. Sounded out, it's Mario Kart, family group chat, or scrolling on TikTok. Watch your whole room mumble their way to the answer, then erupt when somebody finally hears it.

Ear Say includes ten rounds plus a tiebreaker, all built around phrases students actually know: video games, social media, and everyday life.
Don't read it... Ear Say it!

Play it with two students up front; whoever gets the answer first wins the round. Or play it with the whole group! If a round stalls, have the whole room say the words out loud together on the count of three; hearing it in a crowd might shake the answer loose!

This Resource Includes:

  • Complete PowerPoint game file
  • Individual (10 Q&A + instructions + tiebreaker) game slides (jpeg files)
  • Title slide (jpeg file)
