More than 90 percent of teenagers use social media. A generation ago, students would hang out at malls, parks, and other community gathering places. Today, they're hanging out online, building profiles and posting content that expresses their identities to anyone with an Internet connection. The problem is, many Christian teens have disconnected their online life with their offline life, and use social media for selfish and sinful purposes. Based on Jesus' teaching in Matthew 5:14-16, this message is intended to inspire Christian teens to creatively use social media in ways that points their friends to Jesus.

Make #Hashtag the theme of the night and have your students play games like “Hashtag Battle,” “Hashtag Battle 2,” or “#Selfie Celebrity Couples” available in the DYM store.

There are plenty of people who are grateful that you do what you do. Your students are, their families are, and your church is, even though they may not say it often enough. I want to say thanks on behalf of them, and model the way we need to be saying thanks to the leaders that serve alongside us—in ten different ways—through this ebook.

Thank YOU!
