No matter what study you look at, there is a consensus among mental health experts that anxiety in teens has been increasing over the last decade. Many even suggest that the picture the statistics paint is optimistic based on the stigma associated with being anxious. It can also be debated about the role faith culture plays into the discussion as well: does it increase the stigma or does it help get to the root of the issue?

Regardless of the answer, the fact remains that the issue needs to be discussed. For starters, according to the 2015 Child Mind Institute Children's Mental Health Report roughly 80% of teens who have a diagnosable anxiety disorder are not getting the treatment they really need. Beyond that, with the rise of general feelings of anxiety, we need to create spaces where teens can safely discuss how they feel so that we can help them determine ways to promote healthier living.

Viva! Anxious will help your group dive into this important issue. We'll explore the topic of anxiety so that your teens can recognize what it is, and isn't. We'll talk about how to deal with anxiety and look at some Scriptures that address the issue. Here is what we'll be discussing:

Week 1: The Elephant in the Room
Week 2: Do Not Be Anxious
Week 3: Learning to Be Content
Week 4: Getting Practical

This Resource Includes:
• Student Leadership Meeting
• Four Topical Lessons with Small Group Questions

I want to say thanks on behalf of them, and model the way we need to be saying thanks to the leaders that serve alongside us—in ten different ways—through this ebook.
