Students live in a world that spends time binge-watching Netflix, and "13 Reasons Why" is one of the most popular shows in Netflix' history. Many students have watched it and if they haven’t, they are very familiar with it through their peers.

What if we could use this as an opportunity to help students talk about real issues in life, and learn what it means to truly experience and express the hope that God offers through Jesus Christ?

This powerful six-week resource will help students and families deal with difficult circumstances in life with the grace that comes through Jesus Christ and learn to demonstrate empathy to become the light of Christ to those around them.

Each lesson in this six-lesson discussion and Bible study series includes quotes from the episodes (and the book from which they are based), scenes from the show, discussion questions, Bible verses, and an application challenge for the upcoming week.

This Resource Includes:
• Series overview read-me (Word file)
• Complete lesson guide for each week (6 weeks, Word file)
• Title graphics (jpeg files)
• Alternative (unedited) Pages and PDF file content versions.

Note from the Author

I invited students, parents, and adult leaders to participate in these conversations. I purchased several copies of the book, "Thirteen Reasons Why" by Jay Asher to give to anyone who wanted more context but weren’t comfortable with actually watching the series. I would also recommend watching the scenes ahead of time so you are familiar with them, equipping you to be able to set your audience up for what they will be watching. I have also included an overview/resource document that gives you information about how I used these lessons, helpful websites and online articles, recommended podcasts, and a list of books for your youth ministry library.

There are plenty of people who are grateful that you do what you do. Your students are, their families are, and your church is, even though they may not say it often enough. I want to say thanks on behalf of them, and model the way we need to be saying thanks to the leaders that serve alongside us—in ten different ways—through this ebook.

Thank YOU!
