Students are totally into the glory days of the early 2000s! It was an era of multiple boy bands, subtle trucker hats, and foldable phones. Let’s just hope the bedazzled shirts stay away! (“Sir, that’s three rhinestones too many.”)
But what if we could customize how we brought it all back?
That’s exactly what "Y2K Remix" does! Each round engages everyone with an iconic trend, allowing them to freshen up between two choices. From bedazzled shoes to new uses for bucket hats, to mandatory Crocs and skinny jeans you can’t sit down in, every round feels like stepping back into a time when fashion crimes and personality ruled the world.
Students vote by walking to one side of the room, turning to a neighbor, or just yelling like they’re singing “All Star” at a Smash Mouth concert. You can play it in multiple ways:
• Mixer: Use it as a fun way to get students talking! Have them talk to others who are on their side.
• Elimination: Students pick a side of the room that they room they think is best, and then they either have to match the host’s choice (who is blindfolded, and reveals his/her choice last), or have to match the collective vote of all the adult leaders who were alive during that era (who are all blindfolded and all vote last).
• Debate: Two students debate on stage, making the case for their choice, and the audience votes based on who made the better case.
However you run it, "Y2K Remix" guarantees big laughs, big opinions, and maybe even a few new big fashion regrets. Because if the 2000s are coming back… we might as well figure out how we want them to… and if frosted tips will or won’t be involved!
