Do your students know where their favorite Thanksgiving traditions came from?
Every single thing about Thanksgiving feels like it was invented by a committee that only met once... in the 1600s... who somehow agreed that eating three full dinners in one sitting is perfectly normal. And then we carry it all on today and say, “You know what this meal needs? A fourth kind of potato.”
""Where Did It Come From? THANKSGIVING Edition"" puts players to the test on where all these originated from — from candied yams (""This vegetable looks too healthy. Cover it in sugar. Make it look like a campfire,”) to the origin of watching football when you can't move, and then watching football players who still can. Because nothing says “Thanksgiving spirit” like realizing deep-fried turkey has a zip code.
Each round, players guess which state these Thanksgiving gems actually came from. Players lock in their guess; onstage in a showdown, or all together by holding up one or two fingers. If you want to get really interactive, have them walk to the side of the room that represents their state of choice.
Get it right, players stay in. Get it wrong, they're out... like the turkey wishbone.
This game is perfect for students, volunteers, families, or teams. ""Where Did It Come From?"" turns Thanksgiving into the only thing better than food: competition.
