This is a fast and easy, low-prep game to help your students engage with your service.
There are ten challenges listed below for students to attempt. If they succeed, they win a ‘mystery’ prize, which is simply a prize that you have already picked out.
Here are a few tips for this game to be effective:
- Choose ‘outgoing’ participants to play. Someone more introverted may not feel comfortable taking part in the provided scenarios.
- Use the blank slides in between each challenge. This means, when you bring up a new participant, have the ‘blank’ slide on the screen so that they don’t see what the challenge is until you reveal it.
- Some challenges will require a timer. The game host can use their phone to time the participant.
- Buy a mix of good and odd prizes. Here are some examples:
• Bags/Boxes of candy
• Large bags of chips
• Flavored sodas (the weirder, the better)
• Youth Group merch (if you have any)
• Free registration to your next event or camp
• Gift certificates to fast food places (Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s)
• Regular household items (Lysol Wipes, box of garbage bags, crayons, etc.)
- Play upbeat instrumental music in the background. The artist ‘Marshmello’ has many songs that fall within these criteria.
- Use someone very outgoing to be the host of the game. A game is only as good as the energy put into it by the host.
The ten challenges included in the game are:
1. Eat a lemon slice (not the rind) without making a face.
• You will need to buy a lemon for this challenge.
2. Hold a stork stand pose for twenty seconds.
• A timer is needed for this challenge.
• A stork stand is when you stand on one leg with the foot of your other leg tucked behind your standing leg.
3. Eat a ‘Fruit by the Foot’ with no hands in 30 seconds.
• These can be purchased at any grocery store.
• Player must completely unroll the candy and place one end between their teeth. Then, they must get the entire candy in their mouth without using their hands. They just use their mouth.
4. Jump in the air and click your heels together twice.
• The two clicks must be in the same jump.
5. Clap fifty times in ten seconds.
• A timer is needed for this challenge.
6. Do twenty push-ups without stopping.
