Details
Your students know the struggle of adding fluff to their essays to reach a page or word count. In Too Many Words, they’ll get a taste of their own medicine! Players will try to identify everyday objects described in the most ridiculously long-winded way possible. The fewer clues they need, the more points they’ll earn. Brevity is out—hilarious over-explanations are in!
This sequel to Too Many Words now comes with videos for every question, so you don't have to try to read all those big words yourself! However, if you DO want to read them, or force your students to read them, you can use the included slides instead!
TWO WAYS TO PLAY:
— UP-FRONT MODE:
- Divide students into two teams based on grade, gender, birth month, or simply split the room down the middle.
- Call two students to the stage for a face-off.
- For each round, students will be presented with an absurdly wordy description of a simple object.
- Students buzz in by slapping a stool, raising their hands, squeezing a rubber chicken, ringing a bell—or you can just use a buzzer.
- Guess correctly on the first clue to score the maximum number of points. If you need the second or third clues, you'll score fewer and fewer points.
- Keep it Rolling: Once the round ends, call up two more students.
— ALL-PLAY MODE:
- Play the same way, but allow anyone to jump up when they know the answer.
- Avoid having that one smart kid monopolize the game by only allowing each teammate to answer once (or twice for smaller groups).
