Robot Charades is a fun, collaborative game that tests students' abilities to give and receive instructions.
Here is how to play: call two students on stage. The robot should face the crowd. The clue giver should face the robot. On the screen behind the robot is an action that the robot must act out.
But here is the catch: the robot can only do exactly what their partner tells them to. No improvising. No questions asked from the robot. The robot must then guess what their partner was trying to make them act out.
*For even more chaos, you could allow the entire crowd to yell out instructions to the robot.
What frequently happens in this game is because the crowd sees the answer, and the robot’s actions, the answer is very obvious to them but the robot often struggles to understand what they are doing. It also usually results in the clue giver not realizing how specific they must be in order to get the robot to perform the correct actions, which can often lead to some good laughs.
For those who desire to use their games to help teach a lesson, this game could easily be used to help underscore the importance of following instructions or trusting the clue giver. In the chaos edition, you could highlight the importance of listening to “one voice” instead of the crowd’s voice.
