Pattern Premonition is a game of quick observation! Players will need to quickly assess the screen and call out the shape and color of the object missing from the pattern. The shape missing in the pattern could be in any spot on the screen, though! Players must stay sharp and prepared for anything! The missing object in the pattern could be right in front of you, part of a different pattern, or hiding in plain sight! Will you have a premonition of what's next in the pattern?
We used this game to introduce the redemption cycle (sometimes called ""sin cycle"") in the judges and kings eras of Israel: Israel serves Yahweh --> Israel serves idols and forgets Yahweh --> Israel is defeated and oppressed --> Israel cries out to Yahweh --> Yahweh delivers his people --> Israel serves Yahweh. This was a great game to introduce the pattern of this cycle. Use it for that or any other biblical pattern! Or just use it for a good time! Our students loved the challenge of this one!
The best way to play this is to call two players to the stage to represent their team (usually boys vs. girls or side vs. side) and try to beat the other player by naming the shape and color first. Then, you can call two more to play the next round!
