This is an upfront activity for your weekly youth program leading up to Valentine's Day and/or during the month of February. It can also be done in groups, with one person from each group taking a turn against someone from another group.

Back in the day, this was called a ‘sword drill’, where students would quickly race to find the Bible verse reference.

Use the provided graphics to display a Bible verse one at a time on the screen. Select as many participants as you desire for each round to race against one another.

The first person to find the verse reads it out loud. Encourage them to share how the verse relates to love.

Set the expectation before selecting participants that there is a sharing component beyond just finding and reading the verse.

Have some physical Bibles available for students who may not have one.
Take a few moments to explain how to use a physical Bible (ie, using the table of contents, chapters, and verse numbers).

Split each round by alternating between physical and digital Bibles to give all students an opportunity to participate. Don’t allow students to use either digital or physical Bibles in the same round.
