It also includes files that allow you to use the resource without Sidekick (like PowerPoint files, images, etc.), but for the best possible result, we recommend using Sidekick!

In this screen game, students compete by making lists related to heading back to school… yup, that’s really the game! Each round has a category and the challenge is to make the longest list of things that fit within each category. There are two versions of game play.

Face Off Version: Bring up two, three, or four participants (really you can bring as many as you want), or divide the group into teams and appoint a spokesperson for each team. Let Photo Fury land on the category (example: Christmas Movies). One by one, students/teams name an item that fit in that category. If something is repeated or someone gets stumped, they are out for that round. Last person standing wins the round.

Rapid Fire: Divide the larger group into smaller teams or pull up "contestants". Let Photo Fury select your category, and give 30-seconds for each team to make the lengthiest list possible (pro-tip: have pen and paper or mini whiteboard and marker available for each team/individual). After the time is up, have them count up how many they had on their list. Scoring can be determined by simply having teams tally one point for every item listed, or one point per round to the team/contestant with the longest list.

You can play this game through ProPresenter, PowerPoint, or through Sidekick (the most flashy and dynamic way for sure!)

This is a great game to get students thinking and talking.

Note from the Author

I personally prefer the Face-Off version and putting everyone into teams with a team captain talking with his/her team then giving the answer at their turn. It gives everyone a chance to play. Also, be ready to have to play judge on what answers you will allow and how specific you will go. For example, in the round of "School Subjects"; will you allow "Math" or will you ask the team to go more specific; and if you don't ask them to go more specific, will you let another team go more specific? There is no right way, other than you determining how you want it to go.

I've been fortunate to serve the first 20+ years in youth ministry! I'm in My Third Decade (check out my podcast on the DYM Podcast Network!) where I currently serve as the Student Ministry Leader at a church in Louisville, KY. Over that time I have been able to craft a plethora of experiences and resources that help students and parents in their spiritual journey, and I love that DYM has provided me the opportunity to share them with you. My wife Janelle and I have four amazing children ages 10 and under. I love the Cubs, the Colts, comic books, podcasts, and going to Disney World.

There are plenty of people who are grateful that you do what you do. Your students are, their families are, and your church is, even though they may not say it often enough. I want to say thanks on behalf of them, and model the way we need to be saying thanks to the leaders that serve alongside us—in ten different ways—through this ebook.

Thank YOU!
