I Am First The world doesn’t revolve around you…but what if it did? In this satirical (and hopefully) humorous video-driven curriculum we take a look at what might happen if people only live for themselves. Chris Hurt Dylan Manley 25% each author $10 Product/Resource Type Teaching; Creative Programming Primary Teaching Passage** Multi Passage/Topical Sermon/Series Sermon/Series Subcategories** 1-Week Sermon; Complete Programming Bundle; Spiritual Disciplines; Sin and Temptation; Suitable for Middle School; Suitable for High School Program/Event Type Entire Group; Small Group Intended Audience Middle School; High School Supplies Required? No Reproducible Yes We live in a world that is selfish and self-consuming. If we are not careful and we don't guard our hearts, we can find ourselves making life all about us. God reminds us that we are to put Him first in all that we do. How do we do this? We imitate Jesus by spending time with God, serving others, and telling others the good news of the gospel. This curriculum is designed to get students to realize the danger of seeking self above Jesus. Use this resource as a stand-alone or as a complete set for either large group or small group settings. Videos are fun elements that look like the set of “I am second,” but instead they tell the story of characters making life all about them. These videos can be shown as a bumper before the message, as an illustration during, or shown in small groups to get the conversation started. Use one or use them all—it's up to you! VIDEO 1: Chad—Chad puts softball first in his life and calls the softball field his church. Best used as an illustration in your teaching time. VIDEO 2: Conner and Boris—more of a lighthearted illustration to use as discussion starter. Use as a bumper to begin the message or in small group time. Conner loves his music more than anything while Boris is a vampire who makes blood his top priority. VIDEO 3: Ted and Jazz—Video illustrations can be used to start discussions in large group or small group settings. Ted is a good-looking guy who has places his identity in self-image. Jazz loves video games and places videos above all else. VIDEO 4: Ron, Landry, and Coach- Ron is a 70’s disco mogul who really loves himself. Landry is all about the money and the coach is all about winning. This Resource Includes: • Lesson overview (Word file) • Video illustrations overview (Word file) • Complete message manuscript (Word file) • Small group guide (Word file) • Logos and social media graphics (jpeg files) • Video Illustrations (mp4 files) AH NOTE: Emailed Dylan to ask for a how to use and video preference 10/16 Replied 10/23 with above paragraph and video option. There are plenty of people who are grateful that you do what you do. Your students are, their families are, and your church is, even though they may not say it often enough. I want to say thanks on behalf of them, and model the way we need to be saying thanks to the leaders that serve alongside us—in ten different ways—through this ebook.

Thank YOU!
