Doug's notes: EXCELLENT! So detailed... such a helpful series. Well done!

There are several key topics we need to walk through with students on a regular basis. One such topic is challenging students to navigate relationships and sexuality in a way that honors God. Then there is the challenge to talking about this topic with Junior High/Middle School students.

The reality is that the world around us is presenting (and even promoting) a message that you are defined by your relational and sexual pursuits. It’s something we HAVE TO be talking about at home and in the church. God, Guys & Girls is a four-week series that does just that.

Week 1 - RELATIONSHIPS:God created us with a need for relationship.
Relationships get messy when they push us away from God or when they become God.

Week 2 - LOVE: God is the source of true love, and his greatest display of love was selfless sacrifice. Lust is a distortion of love. There is an elephant in the room called “pornography,” and we need to talk about it.

Week 3 - SEX: God created sex. He gave great purposes for sex. He gave clear parameters for sex.

Week 4 - GUY/GIRL THING: The Bible does not have a lot to directly say about dating. The Bible does speak to some key principles to live by in dating.

A key part to really nailing (awkward word choice) a sex and dating series is communicating well with, and setting up parents to carry on the discussion. This series comes with weekly preview and review letters you can email out to your parents.

WHAT MAKES THIS A JUNIOR HIGH/MIDDLE SCHOOL SERIES?
This series takes the original content of the God, Guys & Girls series (https://www.downloadyouthministry.com/god-guys-girls-teaching-series ) and adapts it to a more Junior High (or probably more appropriately Junior High helicopter parent friendly) version.

The main adjustments:

Shorter Messages: Every message comes in ~800 words less.

Simpler Words: Some points and phrases are changed to hit a 12-14 year old’s vocabulary.

Less Sex: The conversation on sex is pretty limited to week three, and the word sex shows up about 80% less in the manuscripts (resulting in 80% less giggles from Junior High boys).

Less Irreverence: The humor moments surrounding talk on sex are cut down as they tend not to land or confuse the message with Junior Highers. There are still laughs; just in different spots.

More Parent Info: There are multiple emails to parents included in each series, but the Junior High version includes much more detail and recognition to the sensitivity being shown to that age group.

This Resource Includes:
• Complete manuscript for each message (Word files)
• PowerPoint presentation or individual jpeg slides (for ProPresenter) for each message
• Graphics package (widescreen and Instagram formatted jpeg files) with both "Junior High" and "Middle School" options so you can use the term that best matches your context
• Weekly small group discussion guides (Word files)
• Series parent preview letter (Word file)
• Weekly parent preview letters (Word files)
• Weekly parent follow-up letters (Word files)
• Series Graphic Package (jpeg file)

I've been fortunate to serve 20+ years in youth ministry at the same church! I'm in My Third Decade (check out my podcast on the DYM Podcast Network!) at Nappanee Missionary Church in Nappanee Indiana. Over that time I have been able to craft a plethora of experiences and resources that help students and parents in their spiritual journey, and I love that DYM has provided me the opportunity to share them with you. My wife Janelle and I have four amazing children ages 10 and under. I love the Cubs, the Colts, comic books, podcasts, and going to Disney World.

There are plenty of people who are grateful that you do what you do. Your students are, their families are, and your church is, even though they may not say it often enough. I want to say thanks on behalf of them, and model the way we need to be saying thanks to the leaders that serve alongside us—in ten different ways—through this ebook.

Thank YOU!
