Misquoted is a 4-week sermon series that investigates four popular sayings that are often attributed to the Bible. The only problem is, you won’t find them in there!

The words we speak say a lot about who we are. So it’s frustrating when someone takes our words and twists them, because it leads people to believe things about us that aren’t true. Likewise, when God is misquoted, it causes people to believe God is someone He is not.

This series challenges students to draw near to God, because the closer we are to someone, the more likely we will know their voice.

The misquotes we explore are:

1. “God helps those who help themselves.”
2. “God wants me to be happy.”
3. “God will never give you more than you can handle.”
4. “Bad things don’t happen to good people.”

This resource includes:
- Four comprehensive teaching scripts (2000+ words each)
- Graphics
- Teaching slides/Powerpoint slides
- Facebook cover graphic
- Ready-to-go social media pictures
- 3-minute countdown video
- YouTube videos (links) that tie well into the sermons
- Small Group questions
- 4 Games: Gosling or Gospel. Know it or Throw it, Auto-Correct Showdown, One D or King D

After serving for 10 years in a local church youth ministry setting in Calgary Alberta, I now serve as the Youth Ministries Director for Alberta and Northwest Territories for the PAOC. I'm passionate about helping youth pastors and their teams reach teenagers for Jesus in effective ways.

My wife and I were married in 2009 and together we have three fast-moving, never-quitting, fun-loving young girls named Emery, Willow, and Harper.

Things I love: Jesus, family, youth ministry, and fitness.

Things I like: Reading, shoes, and HGTV.

Things I hate: Crowds and wet socks.

Good - but one week is a little off
This entire series is DOPE. So awesome. The only thing that can be a little confusing is the week where he talks about "God will never give you more than you can handle." I understood his intention... but that's actually in the bible when refering to temptation lol. 1 Cor. 10:13.

I still taught that lesson but it required tweaking. The whole thing was really good.
Awesome series!
You need to download this and teach it for your next series. These are well crafted messages that are relevant and biblical. I highly recommend! Also comes with other materials usable with the teaching to enhance the message. An absolute steal for $12. Can't wait for Misquoted 2... :)
Great Series

Ken knocked it out of the park with this series. We all know what it is like to be misquoted or misrepresented by someone. Students know this too, so it isn't a big leap for them to understand this series. My students have jumped in with the theme and are always asking, what quote are we talking about this week. Thanks Ken!

There are plenty of people who are grateful that you do what you do. Your students are, their families are, and your church is, even though they may not say it often enough. I want to say thanks on behalf of them, and model the way we need to be saying thanks to the leaders that serve alongside us—in ten different ways—through this ebook.

Thank YOU!
