Understanding the Old Testament and God's plan throughout all of scripture is so vital for students and many times we tend to camp out in the New Testament for too long. This Old Testament series gives students a snapshot of 5 Old Testament character's stories and what we can learn from their life. The theme of God's sovereignty and plan is woven through each one. Included with each message are small group questions for discussion.
 

MESSAGE 1 - JOSEPH: THE TEMPTATION EXPERIENCE

In Joseph's story we see that even in the face of betrayal, temptation, and imprisonment we can trust in God's unconditional love and plan for us. From this message your students will learn that temptation comes to everyone and sometimes holiness means running away instead of fighting.
 

MESSAGE 2 - SAMSON: THE WEAKNESS EXPERIENCE

In Samson's story we see that compromise will defeat even the strongest man. From this message your students will learn 5 stupid steps that Samson took which led him deeper into sin and how to learn from his mistakes to live a life of integrity.
 

MESSAGE 3 - DAVID: THE CONFESSION EXPERIENCE

In David's story we see what true repentance looks like in the life of the Christian. From this message your students will learn from David's example the devastating effects of sin and the 5 parts of true confession and repentance.
 

MESSAGE 4 - ELIJAH: THE FIRE EXPERIENCE

In Elijah's story we see God's strength and sovereignty even in the midst of our weakness. From this message your students will learn that God is powerfully in control of all things including their lives and that we can rely on God to fulfill his promises even when the odds are stacked against him.
 

MESSAGE 5 - ESTHER: THE QUEEN EXPERIENCE

This was my favorite! In Esther's story we see that God is the orchestrator of all things and can be trusted in even the smallest details of our life. From this message your students will learn that God can use anyone to change the world if they trust in his plan of how he wants to use them and who he created them to be even when they are afraid and other people hate them.
