Our world takes it for granted that sex is just an act—that it's not really a big deal. In fact, even trusted adults in students' lives will encourage them to pursue sexual activity, as long as it's "safe." As youth leaders, how do we counteract those messages and teach students the truth about God's perfect, beautiful plan for sex? This four-week series on purity goes beyond just physical purity, and takes a look at spiritual and mental purity, as well. In Matthew 5:8, Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." So how do we become pure of heart? What does purity mean in the day-to-day lives of our students?

Editor's note: "By taking a unique approach to the topic of purity, Mark makes this more than just another series on sex, and I think some of the truths he conveys are powerful."

Week 1 - Why Wait? (Part 1)

Week 2 - Why Wait? (Part 2)

Week 3 - What Satan Doesn't Want You to Know About Sex

Week 4 - Is It Worth It?

This Resource Includes: • 4 word-for-word sermon manuscripts • Small group questions for the first 3 weeks • Graphics package

Note from the Author

Week 1 is meant to get a conversation going, and that's why it isn't very heavy on Scripture. I wanted to give students the opportunity to share their own thoughts on sex before marriage. It's a dangerous game, because you never know what will come out when letting students talk about sex, but it's the best way to get them open to hearing truth, by first allowing them to share theirs! Also, as you probably know, everything you say in a sex series can and will be used as innuendo. I took the route of just diving into it and kind of making fun of myself. It makes an unapproachable topic approachable, so don't be afraid!

There are plenty of people who are grateful that you do what you do. Your students are, their families are, and your church is, even though they may not say it often enough. I want to say thanks on behalf of them, and model the way we need to be saying thanks to the leaders that serve alongside us—in ten different ways—through this ebook.

Thank YOU!
