Four-week sermon series exploring God’s purpose for our lives.

We are on this planet for a reason. Ultimately it’s to glorify God and make much of Him! We are not an accident… nor did life “just happen” for us. The experiences we journey through in life are not wasted and have a purpose to point us to a loving God who desires to be in relationship with us.

During this series we are going to discover the purpose we have on this planet, on our campus, in our homes, and at church. God put us here on purpose, to glorify Him and point others to Him! Let’s discover everything He has planned for us.

Key Teaching Passage: 1 Peter 2. “For this you were called…” In this passage Peter encourages us to live a life holy and set apart from the world. Our salvation in Christ leads us to live a life above reproach. This is the calling Peter encourages all of us to accept… “the World needs to see Christ in us!” This is our purpose. This is why we are here. “…they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of His coming.”

Week 1 - Here on this planet on purpose. Life on earth is temporary… but it can be filled with great joy when we realize we are divinely placed here on purpose—to glorify Him. Do our lives display the greatness, faithfulness, and love of God? Do others know we love Jesus? (1 Peter 2:21, Psalm 139, Jeremiah 29:11-12, 2 Corinthians 5:20, 1 John 5)

Week 2 - Here on my campus on purpose. This is our mission field, the place where we live out life with our friends. How are we using our faith to make a difference in the lives of our friends on campus? Our purpose as a believer is for others to see God in us. (1 Peter 2:11-12, 13-15, Romans 1:16, Colossians 3:23)

Week 3 - Here in my house on purpose. Our family is a big deal to us. When death comes, who will be sitting on the front row of your funeral? Your family. Does your family see the difference God is making in you? Are you in turn, making a difference within your family? Can your family see Jesus in you? Even if your family are sinful we need to honor them. (James 1:19-20, Exodus 20:12, Luke 11:4, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

Week 4 - Here in my church on purpose. The gathering of like-minded believers! The church exists to encourage and inspire others to “live holy lives.” When we live life in community with other believers we are able to hold each other accountable and inspire each other. “holy priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9-10, Hebrews 10:24-25, Acts 2:46, Ephesians 2:10, Matthew 28:18-20)
