5-week study of Psalm 1-5

Details

Ever just wanted to yell at God? Or ask Him 'Why?' Or tell Him you love Him? Or just tell Him you're blown away by what He's done for you?

Well that's what David did in the Psalms. He talked to God, questioned God, even yelled at God once or twice.

Hear Me is a study based on the first five Psalms and the five different topics that they brought with them. When students question whether God is active in their lives or just watching from behind the scenes, Hear Me will remind them that God is present and working. In fact, He's ready to listen to them. Even if they're yelling: Hear Me!

Each lesson has a large group activity or illustration for your group to do as a whole, and then a study for small groups afterward. If you have a smaller group, feel free to do all of the lesson together or break up later! Also, each lesson comes with expanded insights for the leader to look over before class to help him or her understand what the Psalmist is saying before teaching the lesson.

Psalm One - The Two Ways
Everyday you make decisions. This lesson will remind students that they daily make a choice to follow God or do what they want instead. Also, this lesson asks who students are willing to listen to: their friends with advice for now, or God with advice for His Kingdom.

Psalm Two - Kingdom Come
This lesson talks about how we react to God. We want to do our own thing, build our own castles, make our own kingdoms. In reality though, we are no better than a house of cards compared to God's Kingdom.

Psalm Three - Save Me!
This lesson talks about how David cried out to God in desperation, but was completely confident that his request was heard and that salvation was coming for him.

Psalm Four - God Is It
What if all we had was God? Would we be content with just Him and Him alone? This lesson asks that difficult question and gets students thinking about what makes them content and why.

Psalm Five - My Refuge
God doesn't hate stuff. Right? This lesson talks about the strange relationship God has with something this Psalm tells us He both hates and loves at the same time: His own creation! How could David possibly find refuge in God? Find out!
