3-week series on being united as a group and unity with Jesus ...

Details

Cliques, divisions, arguing, disunity: All seem to be constant struggles in our churches and youth groups. Jesus’ desired for his followers to be united so that the world would know him. This three week series looks at what it means to be united with Christ, what happens when unity is gone (and how to get it back), and what unity looks like when it’s done right.

Week 1 – Unite with Christ
Primary Scripture: Romans 5:18-19, John 3:16, John 14:6
We have been divided from God because of our sin, but through Christ alone we can be reunited with God. This message walks through the stages of humanity’s relationship with God: Began in a garden, divided at a tree, left with a gap, and reunited by a cross.

Week 2 – When Unity is Gone (And How to Get It Back)
Primary Scripture: Romans 5:18-19, John 3:16, John 14:6
This message looks at the Corinthian church as an example of what the church looks like when things go wrong. There is jealousy and fighting, cliques, and acceptance of sin. However, all is not lost. Unity can be regained if we acknowledge our differences, admit we need each other, and accept our role in the Body of Christ.

Week 3 – Unity Done Right
Primary Scripture: Acts 2:42-47
The church in Acts provides a great example of unity done right. The challenge comes in replicating that now. Often we look at the first church as a special case, but this lesson looks at how we can live like the Acts church today.
