The Launch portion of "Defy" exists to equip students to GET their faith so they can understand and articulate their beliefs.

Launch was designed to be an initial starting point for students entering the defy discipleship process. The defy ministry is about meeting students where they are; Launch is a key piece to making this happen. As mentioned in the defy Leader Manual, there are three basic categories of students in any healthy ministry.  We label these categories as “seekers”, “builders”, and “developers”.  The Launch series is for the “builders”.  The “builders” are the students who really want to grow in Christ.  They just need some help in putting together the “building blocks” of their faith.  We found that many students in this category have existed in Church for a long time.  Other students that attend Launch are brand new to Christianity.  This population of students needs some concentrated help in making sure they truly understand foundational truths.  Our aim is to help them by making sure they really GET it.   This is the first of three steps to the entire defy discipleship process.  We have found that when students truly GET it they can move forward with confidence. 

The Launch series is set up to be a three week rotating class.  Launch is designed this way so that students can determine their own pace.  There are several requirements that must be met in order for students to move on from Launch.  These requirements are given in the first session of this Leader Manual.  Once students feel they are ready to graduate from Launch they take the Launch Assessment.  This can be done orally or in written form.  Once they graduate they move on to Accelerate.
